ESET<\/strong><\/a>,\na global leader in cybersecurity, today announced it has become a founding\nmember of the App Defense Alliance to protect the Google Play Store. ESET will provide\nits award-winning detection capabilities and improved security for the Android\necosystem and will also spearhead investigations that make the Google Play\nStore safer. ESET is an inaugural member and will begin its work in the Alliance\non November 6, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This\nextraordinary alliance complements the existing partnerships that ESET\ncurrently has with Google, including the integration with Chronicle, a division\nof Google Cloud, and the embedded ESET engine in Google Chrome Cleanup<\/a>, a\nsecurity tool that alerts Google Chrome users to potential threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat\nwas previously a reactive effort to catch security vulnerabilities is now a full-fledged\nand proactive campaign to protect billions of consumers and businesses at the\nsource,\u201d said Tony Anscombe, global security evangelist and industry ambassador,\nESET. \u201cESET has constantly been at the forefront of threat research. Together\nwith Google, ESET and the other App Defense Alliance members will be able to provide\nGoogle with the information to eliminate threats and help Android users stay\none step ahead of cybercriminals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ESET\nwas handpicked by Google based upon its expertise with uncovering malicious\napps in the Google Play Store, which has been well documented over the years.\nWith the discovery of unique banking\nTrojans<\/a>, spyware<\/a>\nand ransomware<\/a>,\nESET has helped to identify some of the most sophisticated threats targeting\nAndroid mobile devices. With this monumental partnership, ESET\u2019s research teams\nwill be intimately involved with the analysis of all applications and help to proactively\nprotect the users of the Google Play Store. As part of this collaboration, ESET\nwill share with Google its determinations on apps it detects as malicious,\npotentially harmful or unwanted, prior to the app being published on the Google\nPlay Store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
